Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti and eminent lawyer, Chief Afe Babalola, on Wednesday hailed the victory of Republican candidate, Donald Trump, in the U.S presidential election. Fayose in a statement in Ado Ekiti described the development as the beginning of

change in Africa while Babalola in another statement described it as dividend for patriotism and nationalism. The governor in the statement issued by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, described Trump’s emergence as divine and instructive. He said Trump’s presidency symbolises different things to different people and nations. According to him, it also symbolises God at work and a clear departure from the old order. Describing the conduct of the election as a lesson for Nigerians, the governor said: “I prayed to God that if Trump will be the one to save the people from state of hopelessness, God should give him victory. “I prayed that God should let Trump win so that another change can begin in America. “ I am happy that God answered my prayers and gave Trump a resounding victory.” Babalola, on his part, said he was not surprised by the outcome of the election. “When the results were being announced, I was not surprised, rather, I felt very happy while several others felt disappointed. “ I was happy because not a single person, including members of my family, the Nigerian media and Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka, gave him a chance,’’ Babalola said.
